The Summit
The Horatio Alger Association’s American Enterprise Summit for Middle School Students is the opportunity of a lifetime for rising
8th grade students. This fully funded opportunity for need-based, nominated students is comprised of students from across the country as they travel to Washington, D.C., to gather, discover and engage with successful leaders who reached their American Dream by overcoming adversity.

High-level officials and prominent members of HAA will ignite students’ passion for their future as they engage with the values of perseverance, integrity and excellence in adversity.

Mentorship &
Motivational Peer Bonding
Our curriculum and schedule is developed to facilitate engaging, thought-provoking, and open conversations that aim to help strengthen our student’s confidence while making new friends.

Exploration of
Washington, D.C.
Students will see the monuments and decision-making landmarks that are the cornerstone of the American Dream and the foundation of the
free-enterprise system.


Schedule of Events
DAY 1
Arrive in Washington, D.C., and be transported to the Omni Shoreham Hotel to start your four days of self-discovery. The afternoon/evening will allow our students to meet their peers and embark on their journey while starting with powerful, prominent speakers to begin their engagement with the Summit.

DAY 2
Dive into our specialized curriculum to facilitate how to develop the skills for a successful future. Whether it’s personal finances, overcoming adversity, or helping structure your academics, you will be inspired by the success of others and your peers. After this illuminating morning, you will travel through Washington, D.C., to witness history in action.

DAY 3
As you start envisioning your future, this day will enlighten you on how to help yourself and the others around you. You will hear from inspirational speakers and work in small groups to define your responsibilities around success.
Then you will visit some of the most iconic symbols in the nation as you will travel to the Capitol & the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Not a bad day!

The Horatio Alger Association is one of the nation's largest need-based college scholarship programs. These programs specifically assist high school students who have faced and overcome great obstacles in their young lives. The Horatio Alger Association provided nearly $19 million in scholarship to 2,300 scholars in 2020.
Once part of the American Enterprise Summit network, students will be invited to apply for Horatio Alger Association college scholarships and will be invited to exclusive Alumni experiences.
